Desert Shootout:
Stanley Representative to bring people out. Scheduled for 3 day race, can we do it in 1 day?
No overnight parking or security. Marty will check with park to see if we can purchase security for National Race.
If no security members don’t want to leave their trailers overnight. Per Marty you can take your trailer off VSQMA premises and bring back the next day.
Can we have 1 or 2 people stay at the Park overnight to keep an eye on the trailers?
Desert Shootout Trophies:
Two suggestions made by Betsy Tait. Glass cactus trophies. Will trophy 1-3 in competitive classes and all Rookies. Prices range depending on size. $7, $9, $12, $15, $25.
(For the National Race we will not trophy. USAC will.)
Sandstone trophy with quarter midget engraved on it. Betsy will look into price.
On the pre-register we have to say if you don’t pre-register you may not get your trophy at the track. May have to be mailed to you.
National Race:
Sponsors with banner asking $150, if want to sponsor and Club has to make banner asking $200.
The park is giving us the ramada we had last year for overflow parking. We need the shuttle again. Need to make at lease 3 signs this year directing people to parking area and track.
Need to find forklift for the National Race. Members please ask around to see if we could borrow one for the weekend or we will have to look into renting one.
Jessica will be putting together as assignment sheet. At least one member from every family will have to work each day. Lap turning, snack bar, raffle, 50-50. Will schedule 2 hours at a time.
We will have the Big Wheel Race again for 5 and under.
Jessica will get with Debi Supan to see if we can get someone from Nascar to participate in our weekend race event.
Jessica will work on getting Channel 10 news to come out and do a live shot Friday.
Parking prices for Desert Shoot Out and National: $50 on the bottom and $50 first row top and $25 rest on top.
Race Results Posted in a Timely Manner:
Race results need to be posted within a week on the website. Also send out an email after each race with results and points.
Tech:
Since the beginning of the 2011-2012 season at the monthly meetings we have talked about putting a tech procedure in place but nothing has been put together yet.
Tech Procedure - Pill draw for three things. How many cars teched, class and part to be teched.
At handler/driver meeting we will draw a pill with how many cars go to tech after mains
After all mains conclude all handlers with car/s in tech report to tech.
Pill will then be drawn for class and part to be tech.
Parts to be teched:
Carburetor
Complete tear down
Head
Widths/Lengths/Weight
Cam/Fly Wheel/Timing/Ignition
Exhaust/Muffler
(Fuel and tires should be checked on all cars)
Motion by Eric Strader to adopt the tech procedure presented.
Second: Greg Edwards
12 yes, no oppose, motion passed
Tech Tools:
Does the Club have tools that belong to them? Marty picked up tech tools from Roger Dry and Marty has now given them to Chuck Almon. Chuck has bought some new tools. Club needs to inventory tech tools to know what we have and what we still need to buy.
New Hoosier Tire:
As of March 3rd we have to use the new Hoosier right side tires. Marty to find out if we have to run new Hoosiers at National Race. Rumors are they won’t be available by March 3rd.
Files on Members that have been Teched:
Every time a member is tech wether passed or failed we need to sign off on the USAC tech form and keep it filed.
USAC Tech Forms:
Motion by Eric Strader to use USAC Tech Forms every time we tech. Should be a two part form, 1 for member and 1 for Club.
Second: Luella Sutton

Length of Race Day:
Radios are being set back to Radical Racing because they will not hold a charge. Betsy found that the Microphone had a bad wire – fixed. Main thing is we need to start racing on time. We had a lot of people and potential new members in the stands at 9:30 when the race is advertised on FB and website to start. By the start of the last race 11:00 there wasn’t as many people. Need to stick to the 9:30 start time.
Race Day Schedule:
8:00 – 9:00 Rookie Training
8:15 – 8:45 Sign-In Open
9:10 Handler and Driver Meeting
9:30 Racing Starts
Betsy/tower only needs a 10 minute break between heats and 15 minute before mains.
Betsy will set the timer/buzzer after end of each round of heats.
Work Party:
Sunday February 12th prior to the Desert Shoot Out. Bring any supplies you think we night need.
